Faculty/Staff Workplace Accommodation

The Workplace Accommodation Process is among the available benefit offerings for you as an employee of Emory University or Emory Healthcare.

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is the designated administrative department responsible for ensuring that equal access is available for persons with a disability. We work closely with other campus resources to ensure that our efforts on your behalf are the most reasonable and effective solution available. Furthermore, we promote the concept of universal design whenever and wherever possible.

In addition, ODS is charged with monitoring and implementing (as appropriate) the employment aspects of Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), which is a comprehensive Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability.

These employment aspects, include but are not limited to:

  • job assignment
  • performance management
  • handling of leave request
  • job training and other term conditions and privileges of employment
  • hiring and termination
  • discipline
  • promotion
  • compensation and fringe benefits

Please Note:

  • Each faculty/staff must meet the eligibility criteria and complete the registration process in its entirety.
  • To ensure that our procedures are fair and equitable, an accommodation or access (in most cases) will not be considered or granted unless the appropriate documentation criteria is submitted.
  • ODS adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines as set forth by FERPA and other related governing regulations. Should you have any questions, please contact ODS at (404) 727-9877 [voice] or (404) 712-2049 [TDD].
